The season for giving may be over, but the need for some gifts is not. Give blood. Give life!
Accidents, house fires, natural disasters, illness ... the list goes on. All create the need for a healthy supply of blood. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
Donating is simple. Once at a donation site, you would register, receive a mini-physical, donate blood and then have a short rest with refreshments. It only takes about one hour. Eight to 10 minutes of the time is for the donation itself.
Platelet donors are also needed. These donations help patients fight cancer.
If you’re not able to give blood or platelets, you could help out by donating money, fundraising, organizing a blood drive, hosting a class, and volunteering.
This month, we are joining with the American Red Cross to raise awareness about giving blood. Learn more at http://www.redcross.org/local/oregon
We have exciting news to share. ODS is changing its name to Moda Health.
Moda comes from the latin term "modus" and means "a way". We picked it because that's what we are here to do: help our communities find a way to better health.
Together, we can be more, be better.
